Nodes reported broken or not functional

Steps causing the bug to occur

  1. When loading any of the examples and running them, either I get the spinning ball for a while and nothing happens or I get this error message “Node broken or outdated — One or more nodes in this composition can’t be used by this version of Vuo. Check the macOS Console for more information about the problem.”
  2. This also happens when I create a composition from scratch…

Have you found a workaround?

I just downloaded Vuo today (since I got your email) and there seems to be no workaround. I also downloaded again with the same result

  • Vuo version: 2.0.0
  • macOS version: macOS 10.12
  • How severely does this bug affect you? It prevents me from using Vuo at all.

@parmerud, sorry it’s not working for you.

Have you by any chance used a previous version of Vuo and installed some nodes? I ask because typically that error comes up if there’s a node installed that doesn’t work with the current version of Vuo. If you do have any nodes installed (see: Tools > Open User Library in Finder and Tools > Open System Library in Finder), please move them to a different folder and try relaunching Vuo.

If that’s not the problem, could you please check in Console.app for log messages from Vuo and post them here? That will help us figure out the problem.

  • Go to Applications > Utilities, and open Console
  • Launch Vuo and attempt to run a composition
  • In Console, Select All, copy-paste into TextEdit, and attach the file

@parmerud and I have been discussing by email. Summary:

  • Any relevant logs?
    • Console shows no logs whatsoever from Vuo.
    • Same with Vuo’s debug mode enabled (defaults write org.vuo.Editor debug 1).
    • Checked that logged in with Admin user account rather than Standard.
  • Other things to try:
    • Alternative method to get log messages (sudo sysdiagnose -f ~/Desktop/).
    • Run Disk Utility > First Aid.
    • Create another macOS user account and run Vuo in that account.
    • Reinstall macOS.
    • Upgrade to a newer version of macOS.

Oh, and one other thing, @parmerud — Any reports from Vuo in Console under User Reports or System Reports?
