The Make Noise Image
node uses the X and Y axes for tiling. An option to tile on only one of the axes would probably make the tile more distinctive.

What do you mean by "more
What do you mean by "more distinctive"? Just making sure I understand what you hope you gain from this feature.
Well, two things: saving CPU
Well, two things: saving CPU cycles by tiling only on one axis and make the tile more "unique" or "distinctive" on the axis where there's no tiling.
If there's no tiling on one axis, the noise image should be more varied on that axis, especially around the edges, since there's no need to match the noise pattern. I'm stating this based on my fuzzy memory of doing a lot of Photoshop 20+ years ago and using tiling plug-ins. But maybe here, it won't have a real visual impact...
In any case, only to save CPU cycles, it would be a plus.
Thanks for explaining, @Kewl.
Thanks for explaining, Kewl. Opened for voting.
Yep.
It would save GPU cycles, and may or may not result in a perceptible improvement in performance.
